Trombones aplenty

What’s better than one trombone? Come on, you know me by now…two, of course.

And today is a good day to celebrate two fine trombonists, as both were born today.

The first? Few are better than this one. The great J.J. Johnson, who proved the ‘bone could bop with the best of them. Here he is featured with comrade in arms Kai Winding. If it says Johnson and Winding, you know you are in for a treat!

Next up, one of the key ingredients to the Ellington band. Juan Tizol. He’s the gent you’ll see with the valve trombone. The tune is Caravan, and it is one of his. Tizol also spent time with Harry James. Enjoy!
